Chancellor Merkel Got Start as Medical Translator, According to German Translation Worker
Written by Admin on June 17th, 2010Germany has experienced many firsts with its leader, Chancellor Angela Merkel.A German to English Translation agency reports that Chancellor Angela Merkel is the first German chancellor to have been raised in the communist East. Chancellor Angela Merkel is Germany’s first female head of state and the youngest ever. During her first term, her efforts were stymied by her liberal coalition party members, but this changed during her second term. As chancellor of Europe’s major economic power, Chancellor Angela Merkel now has strong support of party members and voters alike.
Her experiences in the communist East German system have strongly influenced her values and vision for Germany. Chancellor Angela Merkel grew up in Potsdam, as the daughter of a protestant pastor. She was good in science and decided to make it her career. However, the top-down system of government was extremely restrictive for those who hoped to excel. In order to earn a living while putting her scientific skills to work, Chancellor Angela Merkel began doing Medical Translation work for Russian and Eastern European companies. Dealing with the restrictive government regulations likely prepared Chancellor Angela Merkel well for entering politics in Germany.
The then Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, made Chancellor Angela Merkel a member of his cabinet shortly after she was elected to parliament. Chancellor Angela Merkel experienced a great deal of sexism in Kohl’s government, but was successful nevertheless. In 1999, an Arabic Translation service revealed that Kohl’s party, the CDU, had received illegal contributions under Kohl’s watch. This funding came from two main sources. The first was from the sale of German tanks to Saudia Arabia for kickbacks, and the second was as a result of a fraud deal with former French President Francois Mitterand. A French translation service reported that the money ended up in Swiss bank accounts. Kohl became mired in the scandal but Chancellor Angela Merkel emerged unscathed.
Now, seventy percent of Germans report that they are highly satisfied with the job that Chancellor Angela Merkel is doing. As a favorite throughout Germany, she has made the environment her number one priority. Having addressed the US Congress, Chancellor Angela Merkel renewed her commitment to fighting human rights abuses. Nevertheless, Chancellor Angela Merkel is bound to anger some when she decides whether or not to pull German troops out of Afghanistan. With 77-percent of all Germans dissapointed in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s job performance, it looks as if she has a great deal of improvements to make in terms of warming the German people to her ideas on Afghanistan, tax reform and relations with Poland. However, we interviewed a financial translator for this story who suggested that Merkel’s low approvial is based on the financial crisis that has brought German debt to record breaking levels and Germans fear continued expenditures as the economy is slow to mend itself. Durring 2010, the government of German passed tax changes that gave firms attractive breaks. While Merkel’s conservatives have warned further cuts in 2011 would depend on an assessment of future tax revenue estimates that is due in May, the FDP is insisting on further cuts.
While more negative reports come out about Merkel, she has decided to go into hiding and stop making public appearances. However, even as she is not making media appearances, there are spokespeople for the Chancellor who are speaking and indicating that Merkel is pleased wit her new coalition. Furthermore, some of her aids have gone as far as organizing media events where they staged questions and indicated that Merkel is pleased with the coalition.
