Time has greatly changed from the days when the major source of energy, even for the industries, was coal. At this point, people had not understood well the negative effects that this kind of energy production can cause to the environment. Other sources of energy like oil that were later discovered all had the same negative effects to the environment. Finding zero emissions power and steam was almost like a dream come true.

One of the greatest advantages of this nuclear energy is the fact that it has zero carbon emissions. This means that the environment is not affected like when using other methods of energy productions. The other common methods will produce greenhouse gas that contributes to the immense destruction of global warming. This kind of energy is considered the clean, in the sense that the emissions do not directly harm the environment. They include geothermal, liquid oxygen, wind, solar and hydro-power.

This does not mean that nuclear energy does not have its disadvantages. At times however, it is important that one weighs the advantages and the disadvantages of something before ruling it out completely. Actually there is no perfect source of energy that will not in any way affect the environment. For nuclear energy, the most feared effect is its toxic waste that is radioactive. This can contaminate a whole town if not handled with care.

Apart from being energy independent of other countries, the countries that produce nuclear energy are able to generate a lot of income since this is an expensive kind of energy. A country can be able to export this energy to neighboring countries that are not able to produce this energy.

However, there are always security concerns as the toxic waste from production of nuclear energy can be used by a country’s enemy to bring a lot of destruction. This is the reason why intensive research is underway to discover a better way to deal with this toxic waste.

Although the expensive nature of nuclear energy can be a positive thing in terms of making money, it may also be to their disadvantage since it will be expensive for its residents to access basic energy like electricity. It may be worth the expense if you are sure that you will be doing your environment a favor.

It is good that the society is well educated on the subject of global warming and its effects to every individual on earth. Thus, everyone will be able to understand the importance of the small part they can play in saving the environment. Even if you decide to use energy sources that do not emit harmful gases, you will still need to regulate your consumption to avoid depleting your energy sources.

Zero emissions power and steam is the best way to go to ensure the well being of the earth in the future. While choosing a type of power generation, it is good to consider the future generations and ensure that they will be able to experience the beauty of the earth as you have. Choosing the right source of energy, such as with liquid oxygen, is choosing life.
