Online College Club

Many students grow up wanting a career in law enforcement.  Some brave souls would like the responsibility of being a police officer, while others grow up with dreams of being the next Clarence Darrow.  Still, many students would like to serve as a court stenographer or even a bailiff.  During their time with their scholarship, students with a multitude of ambitions are exposed to the basics of how the system actually works.

Most students who are in Introduction to Criminal Justice usually have a course of study they are on track to complete.  Intro to Criminal Justice is a pre-requisite that must be passed in order to advance onwards into the specialized areas within the justice system.  Students are exposed to a wide range of positions, as well as a wide range of issues currently plaguing the system.

The first area of study for students attempting their scholarship is to learn all the basics.  Students must start with learning a core definition of what exactly crime consists of, along with learning each of the different levels of criminal behavior.  Students will also explore what the basic motivations for crime can be.  This part of the course is meant to lay the foundation for what will follow.

Following learning the basics, students are then taught about the first line of defense against crime: the police officer.  The history and duties of the police is taught with an eye towards all the legal issues that police officers are currently faced with navigating, as well as what the function of the police officer within a certain community can accomplish.

Following the information on law enforcement professionals, students will take a journey to the courthouse.  The courts can be very complex and students will learn about all the areas in which a case can travel.  The duties of all who make their living in the courthouse will be exposed to students as well.  By the time students are finished learning about the courts they will be able to navigate the system with greater ease.

Once students learn about the court system, they are ready to spend time learning about the duties of the corrections branch of law enforcement.  Corrections deals with people who have been sentenced in one form or another as payment to society for committing their crime.  The lives of those who are inmates in a correctional facility are delved into, as well as incarceration is one of the most important parts of a corrections system.

After learning about incarceration, students will take a greater look at the role of the criminal justice system within the society of the United States.  Some areas that will be covered are juvenile offenders and the host of issues that are brought to the table when juvenile offenders are violent.  Students will also learn about the impact of drugs and how drugs play a role in all criminal proceedings.

There are many rewards for those who are willing to put in the work for their online college course.  Students must learn about the different facets of the criminal justice program in the United States because armed with that knowledge they can do far more good in the community and in society.
